At Ball State, we offer a variety of elementary education programs to meet the needs of our students.

Undergraduate Programs

Our undergraduate programs prepare students to teach in elementary schools (grades K-6). We offer two undergraduate programs:

  • Elementary Education K-6: This program prepares students to teach all subjects in grades K-6.
  • Elementary Education with Special Education K-6: This program prepares students to teach students with disabilities in grades K-6.

Both of our undergraduate programs require students to complete a minimum of 120 credit hours, including coursework in:

  • Content knowledge in all elementary subject areas
  • Special education
  • Diversity and inclusion

Students in our undergraduate programs also complete a student teaching experience in a local elementary school.

Graduate Programs

We also offer a variety of graduate programs for students who want to further their education in elementary education.

Our graduate programs include:

  • Master of Arts in Elementary Education: This program is designed for students who want to earn a master’s degree in elementary education.
  • Master of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education: This program is designed for students who want to earn a master’s degree in elementary education with a focus on special education.
  • Doctor of Education in Elementary Education: This program is designed for students who want to earn a doctorate in elementary education.

Our graduate programs require students to complete a minimum of 30 credit hours, including coursework in:
